Welcome to CMUOnet! Below we've provided answers to some basic questions. Before contacting us to ask a question please check to see if it has already been answered here. If it is not included here, do not hesitate to get in touch with us: cmuonet@cmuo.com.
What is CMUOnet?
CMUOnet is a social software system. Social software provides various tools for personalization, collaboration, and publishing. This system allows you share biographical, academic, and professional information through tools such as wikis, file sharing, and blogs.
CMUOnet is based on an application called ELGG. ELGG was developed by Ben Werdmuller and David Tosh (as part of his PhD work at the University of Edinburgh). You may wish to visit and enrol in the main ELGG site to see an example of an established, vibrant online community.
What is the purpose of CMUOnet?
CMUOnet provides opportunities to network with classmates and other members of the Children's Ministries University Online community. In fact, CMUOnet will automatically cross-link you to others within the system.
Can I get involved?
By setting up your personal profile, CMUOnet will cross-link you to other students. All you need to do is click on the Edit profile tab at the top of the page and fill out the form fields. The system will link you to others with the same courses, interests, likes, dislikes and other keywords.
Who owns CMUOnet?
CMUOnet (ELGG) is an open source application. As such, the source code is available to anyone around the world. However, this application, CMUOnet, is hosted on an Children's Ministries University Online server and is supported by Valley Forge Christian College staff. To have your own personal account on CMUOnet, simply sign-up for a free account. You do not need to be a CMUO student or staff member. You can choose to allow people outside of the CMUO community to view your information, or you can choose to make your information more private.
Can I give CMUOnet developers suggestions?
We would like feedback on any additional tools or configurations that would facilitate collaboration and the creation of a dynamic learning community through Children's Ministries University Online.
We are also interested in making this tool as user-friendly as possible. Therefore, we welcome suggestions on how to make the instructions clearer, or how we might make the tool more intuitive.
Please send your comments to cmuonet@cmuo.com.

Us of CMUOnet is absolutely free!
How long can I keep my account?
